Sharlette Family Portraits at the Utica Train Station

On a nice Saturday afternoon in July, I had the opportunity to photograph my good friend Doug and his family while his daughter Natalie and grandson Conner were visiting from Miami. We were both really looking forward to this shoot, but I was particularly was excited, due to the fact that I spent many of my teenage and young adult years here, attending Notre Dame high school and later Utica College and  SUNY Institute of Technology. Utica has amazing architecture, delicious food, and importantly, it many great historic locations to take photographs. The Utica Train Station is a location that would make any photographer swoon with delight.

Batey Family Portraits at Wolfe Oak Acres

There are so many beautiful rural places to get great family photos in New York, but I think my answer will surprise you. Madison County. More specifically, the backwoods of Oneida. I had a lot of fun photographing the Batey's family portraits at Wolf Creek Acres, set amid rolling green pastures, intoxicating vistas, nestled on the banks of the Cowasselon Creek; and only a bike ride from their home. What a joy it was to get to photograph a family full of energy and a good sense of humor.
